9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Turn your inner chef into a kitchen chemist! In this one-day edible chemistry adventure, you’ll explore the science of cooking as we make bread and “munch, munch” more! Discover the strange substance produced when mixing cornstarch and water, and learn the difference between a tablespoon, a teaspoon and other key kitchen measurements. Have your science and eat it too!

The Health Museum has the awesome opportunity to partner with The University of Houston Department of Health & Human Performance Nutrition Program to offer exciting hands on nutrition-based science activities. Campers will get the chance to use a commercial kitchen to learn about cooking techniques, the art of baking and fermentation.

Kitchen Chemistry will be held at The Health Museum from Monday-Tuesday and at the University of Houston Main campus – Cameron Building on Wednesday-Friday in their test kitchen. Instructions for pick-up and drop-off will be emailed a week before the first day of camp.

Please consider any food allergies before enrolling.

Note to MUSEUM MEMBERS: Please sign in or register at the top right-hand corner of the screen to receive up to a $25.00 member camp discount. Your tickets will be discounted upon check out. ($25.00 discount is available to Smithsonian Family Max members and above.)
