Get in touch with your inner surgeon and dissect individually, in a pair, or as a group of four! Receive guidance from a doctor and one of The Health Museum’s science educators and learn about the organ’s anatomy and how to keep the body healthy in a hands-on way!
Disclaimer:
This activity includes the dissection of a pregnant pig uterus. The dissection is conducted solely for educational purposes to support learning about mammalian reproductive anatomy, fetal development, and comparative biology.
Participants should be aware that this experience involves real biological tissue, including visible fetal structures, which some individuals may find sensitive or emotionally challenging. Viewer discretion is advised.
Participation is completely voluntary and participants can choose to step out of the classroom at any time without penalty.
For minors: Parents or guardians must be with children under the age of 12 at all times. By allowing independent participation of minors aged 13-17, parents/guardians acknowledge that the activity involves real animal specimens and fetal anatomy and understand the educational intent of the dissection.
Note to MUSEUM MEMBERS: Please sign in or register at the top right-hand corner of the screen to receive the $10-$25 member discount. Your tickets will be discounted upon check out. (Discount is available to Smithsonian Family Max members and above.)
Please note that participants under the age of 12 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian who takes full responsibility for the child's safety. Caution: during the dissection, we will be handling sharp objects and real organs that may not be suitable for younger audiences.
