October 28th – Do More with Your Food – UTSPH & Cook, Learn, Grow

“Up to 40 percent of all food produced in the U.S. intended for consumption is not eaten, which equates to about 20 pounds of food per person each month.” Let’s eliminate health disparities and learn ways to battle food insecurities by Doing More With your Food.

Come explore creative culinary techniques to help eliminate food waste with Chef and DrPH student at the University of Texas School of Public Health, Wesley McWhorter, MS, RDN, LD, CSCS. Within the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences, Chef Wes works in the Culinary Medicine program to educate future physicians on diets that will help future patients prevent risks of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, and cancer. Chef Wes will team up with Lori Hinze, Educator, Chef and Director of CookLearnGrow, a mobile children's cooking school creating food literacy amongst children. Join us for individualized, age appropriate techniques, and life skills for a healthy lifestyle and a renewed appreciation of food.
