SCOUTS BSA MERIT BADGE

COOKING

The Cooking merit badge introduces principles of cooking that can be used both at home or in the outdoors. Scouts who earn this badge will learn about food safety, nutritional guidelines, meal planning, and methods of food preparation, and will review the variety of culinary (or cooking) careers available. 

THIS CLASS IS HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON'S STUDENT TEACHING KITCHEN AT THE CAMERON BUILDING (3999 CULLEN BLVD) 

REQUIREMENTS NOT COVERED:  

  • Requirements 4 (Cooking at Home) 

  • Requirement 5 (Camp Cooking 

  • Requirement 6 (Trail & Backpacking Meals) 

These are to be done AFTER class. A PARTIAL blue card will be given for this class, and your Troop can help you sign off on the final requirements as you complete them. 

Note to SCOUTS: Get approval from your counselor before attending this course and bring your blue card with you to get signed. Bring a lunch, water and a pen. Wear your Scout A or Scout B uniform. Most importantly, BE PREPARED.
